Summer Reading Kick-Off
May 26, 2004

The 2004 Reading Program has officially weighed anchor and set sail!

Here follow excerpts from the logs of the Good Pirate Ship Read-a-Lot as detailed by Captain Book himself.

The Good Ship Read-a-Lot docked at the Greensburg Public Library. From the deck, I spotted a large crowd milling about, no doubt eager to be signing up for a place on my crew. Looked like we were off to a promising start.

I made my way down the gangplank and began to mingle with my prospective crew members. Almost immediately, we were greeted by one of the friendly natives.

Friendly, but strange native wearing square pants!

We wandered the marketplace, learning about various forms of livestock. A pirate never knows what cargo he will be hauling one day, so always best to be prepared.

Rooster & Rabbit
Note: Have decided that rabbits would not be ideal cargo as Captain Book is far more interested in reading than multiplication!

Back aboard the Read-a-Lot, new crewmembers were encouraged to release their artistic talents.

One day they may be swabbing these decks, but for now, rain will do just fine.
