FREE COMPUTER USE / HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS

Patrons must be in good standing with the Library in order to use Library computers.

**This 10% payment option applies ONLY to computer privileges in the Computer Lab and DOES NOT include the checking out of Library materials at the Circulation Desks.

CHECK IN

The Computer Lab uses self check-in software on its computers.  Patrons must be 14 years or older and have a valid Greensburg Public Library card with less than $5 on their account and a password to sign in unassisted.

Children 13 and younger must have a Parent Permission Slip on file before using the Internet.  Additionally, children 12 and younger must be accompanied THE ENTIRE SESSION by a parent / legal guardian in order to use the Internet.

Guests and qualifying children will be given a one-time use guest pass each time they come in.  See a Librarian for assistance.

Anyone owing $5 or more on their account will need to make a 10% payment at the Main Circulation Desk.  If there is still a balance greater than $5 on the account, the patron will be given a one-time use guest pass for that visit.  After they exit their session, they will need to make another payment and get another pass if they wish to use the computer again that day.

Note: Computers will automatically close down at the posted closing time for the Lab (15 minutes before the Library closes).  It is the patrons' responsibility to manage their time so all work is either saved or printed before the computers close.

PRINTING

Patrons wishing to print will need to make a deposit on their account (or guest pass account) before printing will commence.  All print jobs are held in queue and may be printed at anytime during the session, so long as there are adequate funds on the patron account.

The Computer Lab has 1 black & white printer in the adult area for patron use and there is also 1 color printer available for patron use at the Main Circulation Desk.

Black & White printing: 10 cents per page / side of sheet.

Color printing: 50 cents per page / side of sheet. (no personal photos.)

Patrons are required to pay for all pages printed, whether wanted or not.  Print Preview is available in browsers and programs; use it to cut down on cost.  Print jobs are held in queue and may be cancelled at any time during the session.

Patrons may not use their own paper in Library printers.

Saving your work frequently is strongly recommended. Diskettes and writable CDs are available in the Computer Lab for $1 each, if you do not have one with you.  Library is not responsible for lost data.

Improperly cared for diskettes and cds can damage a computer. Pockets and purses do not provide adequate protection against bending and breaking.

Disk 'wallets', storage boxes and other protective cases are relatively inexpensive and will help protect both computer and your valuable data from damage.

Patrons are responsible for repair expenses incurred by such damage to Library computers.
