FREE COMPUTER USE / HIGH-SPEED INTERNET ACCESS
Patrons must be in good standing with the Library before entering any computer area or accessing the Library's network in any way. Patrons with long overdue items or fines/fees in excess of $4.99 are not considered in good standing.
Patrons serving a suspension of computer privileges may not enter any computer area or access the Library's network in any way.
CHECK IN
The Computer Lab uses self check-in software on its computers. Patrons must be 14 years or older and have a valid Greensburg Public Library card with less than $5 on their account and a password to sign in unassisted.
Children 13 and younger must have a Parent Permission Slip on file before using the Internet. Additionally, children 12 and younger must be accompanied THE ENTIRE SESSION by a parent / legal guardian in order to use the Internet. If either child or parent (if accompanying child at a computer) is not in good standing with the Library, neither will be able to use Library computers.
Guests and qualifying children will be given a one-time use guest pass each time they come in. See a Librarian for assistance.
Note: Computers will automatically close and shut down at the posted closing time for the Lab (15 minutes before the Library closes). It is the patrons' responsibility to manage their time so all work is either saved or printed before the computers close.
PRINTING
Patrons wishing to print will need to make a deposit on their account (or guest pass account) before printing will commence. All print jobs are held in queue and may be printed at anytime during the session, so long as there are adequate funds on the patron account.
The Computer Lab has 1 black & white printer in the adult area for patron use and there is also 1 color printer available for patron use at the Main Circulation Desk.
Black & White printing: 10 cents per page / side of sheet.
Color printing: 25 cents per page / side of sheet. (no personal photos.)
Patrons are required to pay for all pages printed, whether wanted or not. Print Preview is available in browsers and programs; use it to cut down on cost. Print jobs are held in queue and may be cancelled at any time during the session.
Patrons may not use their own paper in Library printers.
Saving your work frequently is strongly recommended. Library is not responsible for lost data.
The Library sells both CD-RWs ($1 each) and 2GB thumb drives ($10 each).
Improperly cared for diskettes and cds can damage a computer. Pockets and purses do not provide adequate protection against bending and breaking. Disk 'wallets', storage boxes and other protective cases are relatively inexpensive and will help protect both computer and your valuable data from damage.
Patrons are responsible for repair expenses incurred by such damage to Library computers.
