LIBRARY CARDS

All residents of Decatur County, 6 years of age and older, are entitled to a free Library card. Non-residents who attend school, own property or work in Decatur County are currently entitled to a free Library card.

Non-residents who do not qualify for a free card may purchase a GPL card at the cost of $35 (as of 2005). This card is good for one year and price is subject to change without notice. Inquire at main circulation desk.

The replacement charge for lost cards is $1.00.

PLAC and Teacher cards are also available.

Library Card Makes It All Possible

We do require some identification with your current address in order to receive your card.

Examples of acceptable identification include:

  1. Driver's license or State ID card
  2. Receipt with your name and address (i.e. utility bill or rent receipt)
  3. Envelope addressed to you at your current residence with a cancelled postmark.
  4. Paycheck stub
  5. W-2

Children under the age of 14 must have a parent's signature on their Library card application.

About PLAC

The PLAC is a Library card that allows the holder to borrow materials from any public Library in the state of Indiana.

Teacher Cards

Teachers and Homeschool educators who live and/or teach in Decatur County are eligible to obtain a Teacher Card.

The Teacher Card allows educators to check out a total of 12 school related books and/or magazines for a period of 6 weeks (42 days).

Personal and Audio/Visual items are not eligible for check out on a Teacher Card.

All Teacher Cards expire July 31 of the current school year.
