LIBRARY CARDS
All residents of Decatur County, 5 years of age and older, are entitled to a free Library card. Non-residents who attend school or own property in Decatur County are currently entitled to a free Library card.
Non-residents who do not qualify for a free card may purchase a GPL card at the cost of $35 (as of 2005). This card is good for one year and price is subject to change without notice. Inquire at main circulation desk.
The replacement charge for lost cards is $2.00.
Proper Identification must be presented to apply for a Library card. Proper Identification is one of the following:
- a valid Indiana Driver's License which displays a current address;
- valid Indiana State ID which displays a current address; or
- a current government issued photo ID.
If the presented Proper Identification does not display a current address, one of the following must also be presented (it must include a current address):
- valid voter registration card,
- valid current government issued ID (e.g., military ID, passport),
- bank statement issued within the last 60 days,
- utility bill issued within the last 60 days, or
- property tax receipt.
Children under the age of 18 must have a parent's signature on their Library card application.
Public Library Access Card
(PLAC)
About PLAC
The PLAC is a Library card that allows the holder to borrow
materials from any public Library in the state of Indiana.
- Anyone with a valid Library card in good standing from any Indiana Public Library is eligible for a PLAC.
- Contact Library for current annual fee.
- PLAC is an individual card not a family card.
- PLAC holders must follow the rules of each Library they use and assume responsibility for all materials borrowed. This includes paying for lost or damaged materials and overdue fines.
PLAC & GPL
Decatur County residents may purchase a PLAC from GPL, with these guidelines:
- Must have a valid Library card through GPL or have the necessary ID to apply for one.
- Library Card must be in good standing with no long overdue items or fines.
- Residents in a district not served by a Library may purchase a card at GPL. In addition to the PLAC fee, they must first purchase a public Library card at the Library of their choice.
Borrowing of GPL Materials
- PLAC holders are expected to follow the policies of Greensburg Public Library, including the fines and fees schedule available here.
- PLAC holders may borrow anything our other patrons may borrow, except equipment.
